Terracotta Guard – acrylic on canvas – 177×57 cms
Set in the north-west slopes of NSW, at my old home, Leconfield (narrowly disguised as Mudgum Station), the hi-jinks initiated in Tales of the New England continue, and what’s more, much of it actually happened!
This time, however, we have a romantic hero, flawed but appealing, and a bunch of young European backpackers, and others, sharing in the ups and downs, hard work and hilarity, of running an Australian pastoral property.
Readers who love animals, the bush, and country life will enjoy this book tremendously. Probably the remainder will too.

I come from a long line of artists on my mother’s side (the Spencers), and I was extremely lucky that her younger brother, Seth, lived with us since I was tiny. He worked at various dodgy jobs to finance his art studies, and was my playmate and mentor of the arts. He continued his studies in London, then became The Artist For The Canadian Navy, while I attended school in West and South Australia and Papua New Guinea. I bummed around for a few years doing various dodgy jobs (ring a bell, anyone?), completed a couple of uni degrees, and eventually retired to enjoy my first real loves, writing and drawing.
These I now wish to share with you via my blogs. Hearing readers say how much they have enjoyed my contributions never fails to bring a smile to my face.
I have recently expanded this site to include a shop, with my books and paintings for sale, as well as really superior mouse pads featuring my artwork, and hand-decorated pens and accessories. These are all-Australian, quality products.
