About Me

Julie Lau Skerrett: Weaving stories that inspire

My lovely Uncle Seth lived with us in Perth W.A., and was my creative art mentor since I was tiny. He went on to become the artist for the Canadian Navy, and I grew up in Australia and New Guinea and became distracted in numerous directions, but never lost my love for drawing and writing. I was a geologist and a farmer, and many other lesser things, but now that I am retired – oh bliss! I can devote myself to those two creative activities I most enjoy.

I began my blog to promote my novel, No Idea, due for publication in late 2025, but the blog began to take on a life of its own. Because so much of my work contains humour, I felt it was a wonderful cheer up! site, and so it has proven.

"Stories have the power to bridge hearts and inspire change."

“The book was hilarious but I also learnt heaps about stockwork and bushwork.”

Scott Cann, Australian agricultural student.
